Google Classroom Basics Course Home Page
The Jackson Public School District uses Google Classroom which is part of the Google Workspace for Education service available in our District. This allows us to provide virtual and blended learning to all scholars in grades PK-5. It is imperative that all teachers in grades PK-5 have the basic skills they need to provide virtual instruction using this platform.
As we adjust to our new normal, training on this platform is virtual to allow you to work at your own pace.
The District requires all teachers in grades PK-5 to complete professional development that will provide a basic level of proficiency using Google Classroom. We recognize that many teachers already have the basic and even advanced skills they need to provide instruction using Google Classroom and may not require additional training using the basic components of Google Classroom.
All teachers must provide evidence of a basic level of Google Classroom proficiency. In order to honor the efforts of teachers who already have the basic skills needed, there are two ways you can provide evidence of your proficiency using Google Classroom.
We recommend you complete Option 2 if they are unsure of any of the elements of Google Classroom or if they don't feel confident using these elements:
- Adding students to Google Classroom
- Stream
- Creating Assignments
- Creating Quizzes and Quiz Assignments
- Creating Questions
- Adding Materials
- Creating Topics and Organizing Content and Assignments
- Connecting Web Applications to Google Classroom
There are two ways to demonstrate proficiency. Each elementary school teacher must select one of the options below:
Option 1. Pass the pre-test with 90% or above accuracy.
Option 2. Complete this Canvas course and pass the test at the end with 90% or above accuracy.
Please select one of the options to continue. You can change your option at any time!
